Mission
Click here to read "Touch the World: Perspectives on World Mission" by John Fanella. This is an introduction to what is happening today across the world in the area of mission of reaching unreached people with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Here are some ways we are striving to be a mission-shaped congregation:
Regular support of four missionaries: Perry Pust with Mission Aviation Fellowship, Gary Wood with New Hope Uganda, Harley Holden with Anchor Christian Counseling, and the Micronesia Ministry in the islands of Micronesia of the CCCC.
Annual Mission Fest in October where we raise awareness and financial support for local and global mission.
Sending of short-term mission teams from our congregation. We have sent youth teams to inner city missions, and have invested greatly in sending adults to Uganda to work with New Hope Uganda.
Mission Scholarship. We have established a scholarship fund to help encourage members of our church to go on a short term missions of compassion.
Operation Christmas Child. We are a leader in our county in organizing and encouraging the OCC shoebox ministry. We collect shoe boxes, raise awareness and support, and provide a relay service transporting boxes to the Bismarck drop off center. In 2009, we collected 250 shoe boxes and raised enough funds to pay their shipping.
Blanket Sunday. A special Sunday where we raise support and awareness of the practical needs in developing nations: the need of blankets, shovels, tools, etc.
Senior Suites (Hazen). We provide a worship service for the residents of this assisted living facility. Many of these residents are unable to attend church, so we bring church (and the gospel) to them. Our services are on Sunday evenings at 6:30.p.m.
Kids for Christ. An after children's group for children K-6th. We have many kids who attend who are not a part of our church. The group is open to all. The purpose of the group is to teach the basic truths of Christianity and creationism to gradeschool children.
Sweet Monday. This is a monthly outreach to women (first Monday of each month). Each meeting has a fun theme, followed by a devotion that encourages women to seek Christ and His kingdom. It is held at the parsonage and women are encouraged to invite friends.
Every Member Mission. The most comprehensive mission we have is the everyday life of each of our members.
